Welcome

Picture
I welcome you to our website which is designed to provide information about St Mary’s Catholic Primary School faith community. St Mary’s is a place where God is named and recognized and where the community is challenged and empowered to live out the values modelled by Jesus Christ. The teachings of the Church, participation in Liturgy and pastoral concerns are reflected in our Vision and Mission Statements, our policies, our programs, our structures and the relationships within our community.

St Mary’s is a place of academic integrity, lifelong learning and extraordinary care for its children. There is a commitment to whole school improvement and an enthusiasm in approaching the many new initiatives and increasingly complex demands of the twenty-first century.

Teachers share a primary concern for the wellbeing of all students in their care. Their teaching is underpinned by a strong sense of the Catholic faith and heritage. They believe each child is a special person with extraordinary abilities who is capable of achieving excellence and they see it as their responsibility to foster this . High quality classroom teaching provides flexible and adaptable approaches and constructive strategies to enable students to reach their full potential. An integrated approach to teaching is established across the school. Students learn in an environment where trusting relationships allow for risks to be taken and mistakes to be made and learnt from.

Members of our parent, parish and broader community are warmly welcomed into the school and their input is highly valued. St Mary’s has a strong and supportive School Advisory Council, and an active Parents Group who support the work of the school.

As Principal, I recognise that the challenge for St Mary’s in providing a contemporary, relevant education for the community, is to have a strong sense of shared purpose and to know that lives are transformed in the learning process, if the educating is done with heart and mind together.

The staff and myself never forget the privilege and the honour entrusted to us in caring for the children of the St Mary’s School Community.
